Dallas, TX
Brandt was selected to completely replace the existing boiler plant and chilled water plant of this historic church "In the heart of Downtown Dallas". Four existing AHU's, serving the sanctuary were also replaced. This scope was a complete mechanical, electrical and building management control package for Brandt and presented some challenges in that the work was done within an existing older structure, the original design was continually modified to actual conditions, and AHU's had to be disassembled and brought back in pieces.
In addition, the main electrical distribution service had to be upgraded to provide enough power for this HVAC renovation. This task was accomplished without any down time to the normal seven day a week business operation of the church.
This project electrically meant more than just HVAC power. Added theatrical lighting, new lighting dimming system, sound system renovations, complete new organ installation and architectural lighting renovations added to the complete electrical work scope.
This project was completed in July 2003 for a MEP Subcontract under a compressed schedule.
New Major Equipment included:
- (2) 300 Ton Chillers
- (1) 300 Ton Cooling Tower
- (3) 1,720,000 BTUH Boilers with Management System
- (2) 8000 CFM AHU's
- (2) 12,500 CFM AHU's
- (1) 6500 CFM AHU
- All associated pumps
- 4500 AMPS of Power Distribution Equipment
- Refurbished Equipment included:
- (1) Existing 300 Ton Cooling Tower
At the completion of the project, Brandt was selected to provide service on the new and existing equipment. Much of the existing equipment is very old; integrating the operation of the new system to optimize the system function of the existing equipment has been a challenge. Brandt currently provides preventative maintenance and repair service on all of the church mechanical and plumbing equipment.
